Obeying parents especially mothers, revering them and being dutiful to them are considered among the righteous acts that please God while disobeying them is an act that incurs God's wrath. At the top of the Islamic teachings comes worshiping God alone as shown in many verses in the Holy Quran, God made next in importance to monotheism obeying parents; God says:

"Your Lord has decreed that you should worship nothing except Him, and (show) kindness to your parents, whether one or both of them attain old age (while they are) still with you, never say to them a word of contempt nor scold them. Address them in a generous fashion. And out of kindness, stay before them with humility and say: 'My Lord, show them mercy, just as they cared for me in my childhood' " (17:23-24).

The biggest sin in Islam is polytheism, in many hadiths disobeying mother and father is next to this heinous act.

Caring about parents also has been given much stress in the prophetic words to the extent that it is more preferred to Jihad, the term Jihad in the following hadith means the defensive wars that were launched against the enemies of Islam who were keen to undermine the Islamic state;   Abdullah ibn Masud by way of Abu Amr ash-Shaybani says:

I asked the Prophet, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, which action Allah loves best. He replied, "Prayer at its proper time." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "Then beautiful conduct to parents." I asked, "Then what?" He replied, "Then jihad in the Way of Allah." He told me about these things. If I had asked him to tell me more, he would have told me more.

Mother , in particular , is given all the priorities in the life of her sons , a son should give his utmost care to his mother then his wife comes in the next place, a son should not prefer his wife to his mother under any circumstances;

In the time of the prophet lived a man who was well-known for his uprightness. When the time of his death came. The attendees tried hard to make him utter the confession of faith but in vain. It is necessary for a Muslim to utter the confession of faith before he gives the ghost. The Muslims who gathered around him to help him utter the confession of faith labored themselves to make him repeat the Shehadaa but  it was clear that the man was not able to utter the confession of faith, so the attendees sent to the prophet to attend to help him.

The prophet tried to make him utter the confession of faith but in vain, the prophet understood that there had been a certain sin that prevented the man from uttering the confession of faith, so he asked about his mother who came to him at once.

The prophet asked his mother about him and his righteous acts, she said that he was so righteous and did many righteous acts except he preferred his wife to her (mother). It was clear that the old lady was humiliated much by her son and she refused to forgive him, so this means that her son would remain suffering from the agonies of death.

In order to arouse mercy and sympathy in the heart of the old woman to forgive her son, the prophet ordered his companions to collect some dry branches of trees to burn them and cast the dying man in it in order to relieve him from the agonies of death, the prophet then waited to see the reaction of the old woman.

The plan of the prophet succeeded and the old mother forgave her son, when the companions raced to the room of the dying man to make him utter the confession of faith, they heard him uttering the confession of faith before they reached the room.

This true story that happened in the time of the prophet teaches us to what extent mothers should be given the due care and none, even if she was a beloved wife, should preferred to her.

In Islam mother' Rights is three times than father
Despite parents ( both father and mother) should be given the due car, mothers' rights over sons are three times than fathers', the following hadith illustrates this fact:
A man came to the Prophet Muhammad and asked:
The man:

" To whom should I be kind?"

The Prophet replied,

"Your mother."

The man asked,

"Then to whom?"

The Prophet said,

"Your mother."

The man asked,

"Then to whom?"

The Prophet replied,

"Your mother."

Then the man asked the fourth time that,

"Then to whom?"

The Prophet replied,

"Your father."

Imam Ali Ben Hussein, the great-grandson of the Prophet, who said:

"Coming to the rights of relatives, it is the right of your mother that you:

- Should appreciate that she carried you (in her uterus) as nobody carries anybody,
- And fed you the fruits of her heart which nobody feeds anybody,
-and protected you (during pregnancy) with her ears, hands, legs, hair, limbs, with her whole being, gladly, cheerfully and carefully; suffering patiently all the fears, pains, difficulties and sorrowfulness (of pregnancy), till the hand of Allah separate you from her and brought you into this world."
-"Then she was most happy feeding you, even if she herself had no clothes; giving you milk and water; not caring for her own thirst; keeping you in the shade, even if she had to suffer from the heat of the sun; giving you every comfort with her own hardship; lulling you to sleep while keeping herself awake."

"And remember that:
Her uterus was your home,
And her lap your refuge,
And her breast your feeder,
And her whole existence your protection;
It was she, not you, who was braving the heat and cold of this world for your safety."
"Therefore, you must remain thankful, grateful and indebted to her accordingly".
You will be asked about womb. God says in the Holy Quran what means:

O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single Person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; fear Allah, through Whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (the uterus that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you. (Surah 4:1)
This means that you are going to be asked about what you have done to the uterus which gave you the life (i.e. your mother).
