Punishment for Remarriage in Christianity
Punishment for Remarriage in Christianity Remarriage was not supported by the early church to the extent that they condemn it, in their view those who remarried were inferior and should be punished. Nowhere in the New Testament is a word that rebukes them or call for punishing them. Instead of encouraging the widows to marry to keep their chastity and bore more believers they went against the human nature. They said what God didn't say and levied punishments on the newly married widows , such punishments were never referred to by God. Here is a list of the punishments that a newly married widow received. The church is to take severe procedures against whoever broke his wildwood, he is to be deprived from the seven holy sacraments He is to face a punishment levied by the church, the period of punishment will vary according to the number of remarriages, one or two-year punishment for second remarriage, five year-year punishment for third remarriage. These punishments, as stated by the early saints, were traditions but later became laws in the canonical synods, which were held in the 4th centuries. However the period of punishment may have been lessened if the person was proved to have done the prayers and fasts regularly. Marriage crown is not blessed, just prayer if one the partners marries for the first time. He will be blessed alone. The priest is not to attend the banquet of this marriage, this marriage according to saints requires atonements. So how he can participate in this banquet. The person who practices remarriages is not to be included in the jobs of the church priesthood. This is stated in Paul's messages.
