Muhammad, the Administrative Genius (Part Five)
Managing the general affairs The higher administration in managing the general affairs manifests itself and manifests its wisdom when confronted with whims and thus commotions and riots ensue, administration is not mere texts and rules that men of authority apply blindly like a large gear that mechanically moves or rotates, this in most cases becomes concerned with the human psyche and facing dangers. This is the field in which the genius of Muhammad manifested itself, a genus that always achieved in creating successful solutions and averting evils in the best way. When asked to settle dissention dilemmas, whether before or after his call, the prophet gave the fairest opinions that brought peace and satisfied all peoples. This high wisdom manifested itself when discordance and disagreement broke out between the Arab tribes which wanted the honour of raising the black stone to its original place while rebuilding the Kabba, it was an honour that no tribe could relinquish for the other. The consequences would have been dull and fearful if his opinion had gone in favour of one tribe even if this had been done by ballot or by chance. The prophet's opinion that no other opinion can match fitted that historical juncture and the then unknown future. So he gave his opinion that a piece of cloth was to be brought and then holy black stone is to be put and then asked the leader of every tribe to hold one of the ends of the cloth and then asked them to rise the cloth at one go to the original place of the stone then judged that he should take it by his hand to fix at its place and to this no one objected and to precede the call though still hidden in the unknown and had they known that at that time, they wouldn’t give their consent to his opinion, nor did he survive their enmity. He made the same thing when he emigrated from Mekka to Madina when delegations received him competing to host him and in his heart he wouldn’t distinguish one team and favour them lest jealousy flames broke out in their hearts, so his opinion was to leave his camel go unbridled making its way among people till it leant down where she was ordained to rest, and she adjudicated the place where he would be hosted, such adjudication if given by young or old man, it would not have been accepted without abhorrent consequences.
He made the same thing when he preferred some of the Mekkaneans who were weak in faith by giving them more spoils of wars more than the supporters who were stronger in faith, the supporters held themselves fast to Islam. When they were displeased at this, nothing was faster to their hearts than his convincing words which not only pacified them but rather convinced him that he was the winner and the triumphant and even won over the convincing mind and thus making conviction in the same mind.” “Are you dejected for such trivial worldly thing that I gave to them just to hold them tight to Islam and left you for your strong faith in Islam. Aren’t you satisfied if people came back home with camels and goats and you come back winning Mohammed in your property. I swear by Whom Mohammed's life in His hands that had it not been for emigration, I would have been one of the Supporters." These words from such a managerial authority prove that the managerial administrative ability and the talent of leadership were gifts deeply entrenched in the prophet character. Such a high talent and genius manifests itself when administration is concerned with managing affairs and feelings. He was apt to undertake any affairs suffering from disorder and vulnerable to misbalance because he could manage it with his high professionalism, discipline and tolerance. No society, whatever it could be, could be led with such qualities and then you find in it any gate open to disorder and chaos or predisposed to misadministration.
